At the 13th edition of Medi’Nov Connection, the unmissable annual gathering for MedTech in France, our CEO Thomas Charrel presented the groundbreaking Veinsound solution. A non-invasive, non-thermal, and painless ultrasound-based treatment for varicose veins: a disruptive alternative, performable in a Medical office, that truly improves patient care. This achievement, crowned with the Medi’Nov Innovation Award, is an exceptional recognition for our team and our pioneering technology!

The Innovation Competition: A highlight of Medi’Nov 2025

Among the various program highlights, the Innovation Competition stood out as the key moment of the Medi’Nov meeting, held in March in Lyon. Established in 2016, this competition showcases the most innovative projects and promising young companies. Selection criteria included the novelty of the offering and market growth potential.

This year, Veinsound had the opportunity to pitch its device, alongside 9 other candidates, during a ten-minute presentation before a jury of experts. Each candidate was scored out of 20 on various criteria by the jury, determining the finalists.

Veinsound is very proud to be the winner of the 2025 edition of the competition, thanks to its innovation that is set to revolutionize phlebology. Also among the finalists was Eduardo W. JĂžrgensen de Vizcarrondo for Medicsen, recognized for its advanced ultrasound-based insulin delivery solution.

We extend our sincere thanks to the Auvergne-RhĂŽne-Alpes Region, especially Catherine Staron, Vice President for Higher Education, Research, and Innovation, for her ongoing support of health innovation.

Veinsound also warmly thanks the partners supporting this Medical breakthrough: Hospices Civils de Lyon (HCL), France Biotech, IAC Partners, CIC, Medtech France, and Mind Health.

Spotlight on our disruptive varicose vein treatment: Veinsound

The innovative Veinsound treatment is based on the phenomenon of non-thermal cavitation, where microbubbles generated by ultrasound cause controlled erosion of vein walls, leading to their closure without invasive intervention. Varicose veins are treated both curatively and preventively, helping to avoid deterioration of the venous network.

Our technology, developed in collaboration with the LabTAU laboratory at INSERM, offers a non-invasive, painless, and scar-free alternative to traditional varicose vein treatments. It addresses a strong demand from patients seeking effective, less burdensome solutions. It’s worth noting that varicose veins have a prevalence of 19%, according to a meta-analysis of 19 international studies conducted in 2021 (Salim et al., 2021).

Validated preclinical trials, and technology soon entering clinical trials!

Preclinical studies have already shown promising results, including a feasibility study on sheep veins, where vein occlusion was achieved without affecting surrounding tissues  (Ganeau et al., 2025). These results support the potential of our technology for treating varicose veins. We are currently advancing efforts to validate the device’s efficacy and safety through clinical trials—the final step before market launch.
